We are looking for Experienced Fire Alarms Technicians

Brampton Fire and Security Systems is looking for an experienced, fully licensed fire alarm technician who can work proficiently, both independently and within a team. As a Fire Alarm Technician you will be testing, installing and updating fire alarm systems in commercial and residential buildings. You will perform inspections, test alarms, and troubleshoot or document any issues. You will also respond to emergency service calls and ensure the systems are functioning properly.


Primary Responsibilities:


• Conducts repairs and inspections of fire alarm field panels, and components


• Conducts component replacements to devices such as manual pull stations, smoke and heat detectors and alarms, emergency lighting units, exit signs, and other fire/ life safety devices


• Performs monthly, and annual inspections and tests on fire alarm systems and components in accordance with the Ontario Fire Code, and applicable CAN/ULC standards


• Completes work orders and administrative duties to communicate technician documents to office staff


• Experienced in conventional and addressable fire alarm systems


• Ability to troubleshoot issues by consulting co-workers, technical documents or tech support


• Notifies building staff, local fire department, and monitoring stations of shutdown to fire alarm system when shutdown of fire systems is required to perform maintenance, repairs, and/or replacement


• Operates professionally and safely


• Records tests/ inspections in respective building fire log books


• Experienced in high-rise and low-rise residential, commercial, and industrial buildings


• Experience with basic power tools


• Excellent communication; to customers, coworkers, and non-technical staff


• Instructing and training non-technical persons of the basic operation of key fire alarm system components


• Travels to properties and maintains proper handling/care of testing/inspections tools, equipment, and materials


• Valid Province of Ontario Class G Driver’s license


• Participate in on-call rotation


• Capable of performing physical labour to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 40-60 lbs.

Education: Post-Secondary education in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

Must be fully licensed/ Certified Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA)
